All eyes on AKA at the Durban Botanic Gardens this weekend
Multi award-winning hip-hop supremo AKA is set to headline the Old Mutual Music at the Lake concert on Sunday, 6 March at the Durban Botanic Gardens. The artist will perform alongside East Coast Radio DJ Zaba, offering what organisers tout as ‘a captivating escape from reality.
This is the ‘Baddest’ rapper’s debut performance at the Durban Concert Series and he expressed excitement to be able to bring his music to the natural amphitheatre of the Durban Botanic Gardens, especially as it provides a unique opportunity for his fans to experience him performing some of his latest music and a few flashbacks from his first album.
Born Kiernan Forbes, AKA has made a major impact on the international music scene, with two playlisted singles on BBC1Xtra who also announced him on the much anticipated Hot for 2016 list . His run of success continued this month at a music awards event hosted by the biggest urban radio station in South Africa, Metro FM, where he won two awards for Best Collaboration (AKA FT. Burna Boy, Khuli Chana & Yanga – ‘Baddest’), Best Hit Single (AKA FT. Burnaboy, Khuli Chana & Yanga – ‘Baddest’).
The rising star whose latest offering is expected to be released soon, has also launched #3RDWRLDBOSS, a range of electronics consisting of headphones, ear buds and Bluetooth speakers.
